The Future Students website is the first point of contact for prospective students.

Future Students receives more than 30 million page views each year and is the major channel for UQ to promote itself and provide information about study options to Australian and international prospects.

It is vital for Future Students to offer a welcoming, informative, persuasive and, ultimately, positive online experience. The previous Courses and Programs website was neither designed for, nor delivering, this type of high-quality user experience.

Future Students is designed to achieve the following:

  • An enhanced and persuasive user experience that leads to one or more desired outcomes (apply, contact, register for more information, download etc).
  • Authoring and re-authoring of program and marketing content to more appropriately present UQ’s position as one of the world’s leading universities.
  • Simplification of navigation structures, paths and search functionality to allow users to quickly identify and access the content they require for making a decision to study at UQ.
  • Better use of rich media content as a means of encouraging dialogue/site exploration and lead generation.
  • Support lead generation and prospect qualification.
  • A new visual design that aligns with UQ’s brand and developing web presence.

Students and their support networks are highly invested in tertiary education and expect a quality online experience. This project delivers an experience that better addresses user needs and wants, while also more appropriately presenting UQ’s identity and reputation.

ITS are the custodians of the activity, with a team of web, content, and user-experience specialists contributing to its implementation. Ongoing consultation and input has also been provided by OMC, UQ International, Academic Services Division, UQ Admissions, Student Services and faculties.
